The route I went on was siren, and well kept up. It's now ine of my favs. I wish it was closer to me. ¿
We parked at Lake Townsen Park, had some lunch at Bree’s Provisions (They close at 2:00) and rode north, out and back for about an hour. The trail is well maintained and goes through beautiful farm country.
The trail and the land needs to be cleaned up. The grass and weeds needs to mowed and garbage in the grass. The weeds are as high all along the trail by Trinity Blvd. You have a nice trail but the surrounding areas are filthy. It makes the homes /townhomes look shabby. How come Starkey doesn't have weekly maintaince on this empty lot???. She made promises when she was running telling us that this is going to be beautiful. Why not put some lights up for the darkness when walking or riding on this trail?????? The area around this trail is filthy and needs attention Asap!!!!!!
Great trail! But definitely needs some work after the Hurricane's North of Polk City. Trucks have created some dangerous dips/holes in the asphalt from the trail repair crews. BE CAREFUL. the Shade hides some of the obstacles.
You may encounter some equipment on the trail also during weekdays. Hopefully, it will get re-surfaced along this 2 - 3 mile stretch. I did NOT RIDE South of Polk City. Overall, a Very Nice trail. Will be back to 4 star trail after repairs.
This is a great trail through marsh and forest area. As many we met on the trail say. This trail feeds our souls...enjoy. we will be back.
Training for a sprint Triathlon and used this for interval training. Not much shade but the perfect length for beginners and early training.
Rode every inch on this trail back and forth. Not too much nature but one very small section. Should be called the Highway Trail most of it is right next to the highway. I've been on rail to trails all over the country this is my least favorite. You pass thru a lot of very trashy areas near Cross City, Chiefland and ride next to the highway A LOT. You see more broken down should be condemned trashy single wide trailers than nature. Also this is the only trail I've ever seen where the were to lazy to pull the rails up first. They just slapped the blacktop right on top. Big waste of good steel and it's causing problems all over the trail.
Parked off a dirt lot about the midway point of the trail. Rode west, enjoyed a view of the gulf at the endpoint, then turned around, and road the 6+ miles to the other end. If I had a complaint, it would be that the trail didn't go further.
I’ve done this trail three times now on different skates. It’s on of my favorite trails on the Coast to Coast Trail & also just in general in Central Florida. It’s smooth. It’s beautiful and peaceful. Never too crowded. Currently open and only a small wet spot but manageable for skaters of quads and in-lines.
The Good Neighbor Trail was completed thru Brooksville several months ago. It passes thru Tom Varn park (water, restrooms, shelter) and connects to the SR 50 trail going to Weeki Wachee. SR 50 trail also connects to the Suncoast Trail. It has opened up many possibilities for long rides. For example you could start at Blue Run park in Dunellon (Marion County) and ride south 80+ miles, one-way, connecting to the Withlacooche, Good Neighbor, SR 50, Suncoast and Upper Tampa Bay trails, all the way into northern Hillsborough County.
Trail closed, drove to get here and found out with signs up at all the crossings in our area.
